Man o' man we have been excited to tell the world about this one for a while. Coming up on the 4th of December is the next RUBIX Records release called the 'Bafana Rhythm' singles!
This is a very special release for us as it's been a minute since we released "Hot For You" by the excellent Andy P (now Tom Junior). You can check that release out here. But this release is also very special because of the don producer and all-round legend Parallel.
Hailing from the big smoke in London, UK, Parallel a.k.a. Niall Rowley, is a real up in coming house music producer and DJ who combines incredible euphoric synths, with crunchy powerful drums to create some of the best house tracks we have heard… We will be releasing more info soon about his two releases for us later, but for now, let's take a look back at some of his top releases to date.
1. Touching Vacancies
A month or so ago Touch Vacancies featured in our Top 5 Free Soundcloud tracks blog. I thought it would be good to kick off with this one! A free thing of beauty. With great use of instrumentation from what I assume is a sitar, with an undercurrent of swelling sub-bass and flowy synths, it's the ultimate track to zen you out and makes you really consider what the meaning of life is…ok maybe that's just me.
2. Love U Mama
This one goes out to all the mama boys & girls out there! But hey even if you don't love your mama, still check this track out. With an incredible vocal hook that is perfectly accompanied by a fast-paced groovy drum kit with yet again more beautiful flowing synths. Once again, free download. My O' my Parallel is a good guy.
3. Store Bought [MilkitSounds]
Groovy. Goodness. With such a groovy bassline, this one was always going to make it onto my top 5 previous releases of Parallel! So what I love about this track is the way it's pretty different to any of his other releases, it's bassline centric, however, it gives a more disco house vibe. Once again Parallel the new king of synths – has managed to find the perfect sound to match this vibe. I'm taking a punt here – moog synth – or that retro synth sound. Retro or not, it bangs.
4. Risky Susan [Imported Recordings]
So Risky Susan is how the RUBIX gang actually found Parallel. After hearing it, we must have played it in every set for the following 6 months – well the Oli and I. Unsurprisingly I'm going to comment on the drums (I'm a drummer btw) and the horns (I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'm a horny guy). The basis of this track is the heavy, moving drums which gives it a tribal type feel, yet laid back yet powerful! And don't even get me started when that flute starts! It's one of those songs where every sound is placed perfectly into a song that combines to make a complex, wholesome BANGER!
5. Stompy (RCR003) [Reality Club]
BIIIIIIG! This is a weird one for me, as Parallel has sampled the same song as one of my favourite tracks from Seamus. I love it when I hear to versions of the same sample but taken in two completely different styles. What really did it for me on this one was the trumpet, it just fits so perfectly into this track with the crunchy, groovin' drums and the vocals that make it almost impossible not to sing along too.
Make sure to keep an eye out for more about Parallel's upcoming release on RUBIX Records. Release date 4th of December.
Peeeeeace!
